Spiritual Ascension

Spiritual Ascension is one of those terms that people like to decorate until it becomes useless.
They place wings upon it. They drown it in soft light. They speak of “higher vibrations,” “love and light,” “downloads,” “chosen bloodlines,” secret titles, special currents, initiations purchased from strangers, and all the other pleasant little ornaments with which the spiritually hungry attempt to avoid the one thing they fear most: actual transformation.
Ascension is not decoration.
Ascension is not becoming gentle, harmless, obedient, or “pure” according to whatever doctrine happens to be popular in the room. It is not a costume. It is not an aesthetic. It is not a performance for social media, nor is it the act of repeating words you do not understand before forces you cannot truly perceive. Ascension is the brutal, intimate, and deliberate elevation of the self beyond its former limits. It is the refinement of the Will. It is the strengthening of the Spirit. It is the slow and often violent severing of the false self from the Divine Self, the Godself, the Self that does not beg the world for permission to exist.
And no, dear reader, Ascension is not tied to one specific current, practice, religion, paradigm, temple, teacher, book, deity, spirit, or system.
One may ascend through High Magick. One may ascend through Necromancy. One may ascend through Infernal currents, Cthonic currents, Solar currents, Mercurial currents, Martial currents, silence, devotion, discipline, ritual, ordeal, shadow-work, self-mastery, or the sheer refusal to remain spiritually crippled. The current is not the crown. The practice is not the throne. The symbol is not the power. These things are roads, weapons, keys, mirrors, engines, gates. They may assist. They may awaken. They may refine. They may tear open the sealed chamber. But they are not the Ascension itself.
You are.
This is where most fail.
They search for the perfect system because they do not wish to become the proper vessel. They seek the strongest spirit because they do not wish to cultivate spiritual authority. They buy the book, speak the name, light the candle, trace the seal, whisper the mantra, and then wonder why the heavens do not split open for them. Why? Because a weak hand holding a royal sceptre is still a weak hand. A fool inside a temple is still a fool. A coward with a grimoire remains a coward unless the work burns the cowardice out of him.
Ascension demands consequence. Not “karma,” not childish moral bookkeeping, but consequence. Cause and effect. The balancing of scales. The cold mathematics of becoming. Every lie you tell yourself has a cost. Every weakness you protect becomes a chain. Every excuse you feed becomes a master. Every time you betray your Will for comfort, applause, fear, or social permission, you descend a little further into the mud of your own making.
Do the math.
To ascend is to reclaim the axis of the Self. It is to stand at the centre of your own spiritual architecture and say: this shall be rebuilt. Not patched. Not decorated. Not sprayed with perfume and called holy. Rebuilt. Stone by stone. Bone by bone. Name by name. You examine what you are, what you have allowed yourself to become, what powers move through you, what powers feed from you, what memories govern you, what fears command you, what desires you have buried because someone told you they were sinful, shameful, impossible, or improper.
Then you begin the work.
And the work is not always beautiful. It may not make you softer. It may not make you more acceptable. It may not make you palatable to those who loved you best when you were small, confused, obedient, and unsure of yourself. Ascension may make you quieter. Sharper. Less tolerant of nonsense. Less willing to bow before empty authority. Less willing to call spiritual laziness “peace.” Less willing to mistake submission for wisdom.
Good.
There are those who speak of Ascension as escape. Escape from the body. Escape from desire. Escape from darkness. Escape from the world. We do not. Ascension is not escape; it is command. It is not fleeing the lower realms of the Self, but mastering them. It is not denying hunger, rage, grief, lust, ambition, sorrow, death, shadow, and power. It is learning what they are, where they belong, how they move, and how they may be transmuted into authority rather than left to rot as poison within the vessel.
The ascending practitioner does not become less human by pretending to be celestial. He becomes more than human by no longer being ruled by the unexamined machinery of the human condition.
Remember this well: Ascension is not a reward given to the obedient. It is not handed down by a current. It is not granted by a deity because you grovel prettily. It is not bestowed by a spirit because you flatter it with incense and fear. Respect the Powers, yes. Work with them, learn from them, stand before them with discipline and understanding. But do not crawl. Crawling does not make gods. Crawling makes servants.
And if servant-hood is what you seek, then be honest about it. There is no shame in knowing one’s limits. But do not call it Ascension.
Ascension is the path of the one who chooses to rise through labour, ordeal, perception, Will, and spiritual sovereignty. It is the awakening of the inner throne. It is the refusal to remain asleep inside inherited cages. It is the art of becoming dangerous to your own limitations.
There are no shortcuts.
There are gates. There are keys. There are teachers. There are spirits. There are methods, rites, seals, mantras, offerings, visions, ordeals, and revelations. Some are valuable. Some are poison. Some are nothing more than painted bones sold by spiritual merchants to the desperate. Know the difference.
Ascension belongs to those who can endure the difference.
So rise, if you will rise.
Not because a current permits it. Not because a practice promises it. Not because a teacher names you worthy. Rise because something within you refuses to remain beneath itself.
And when that refusal becomes discipline, when discipline becomes power, when power becomes authority, and authority becomes Being — then, perhaps, you may begin to understand what Ascension truly is.
