The Other You

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

Our individual lives are a sequence of snap-shots which shutters in moments of lucid recognition like the beating wings of a moth. Some find solace in night-clubs, with all those flashing strobes, and gyrating-grinding bodies in close proximity to your own…a place where we belong; some seeking a lover for the night, for life or excitement…even for the briefest moments to escape the confines of that box-shaped reality we call life. These memorable shutters of our microcosm become our placebo…that very thing which helps us get through the day…an escape for a brief moment in time. All these moments add up to memories, and these memories will help shape our perception; our perception upon people, places and most importantly ourselves.

What is it that you WANT? Who do you want to be? Whom does others want you to be? What do they want from YOU? Where do you fit in? What is your role and place within this life that you collect snap-shots of?

Restlessness stems from a deep sense of uncertainty. Uncertainty about your identity, your feelings and thoughts…

What if we told you that your reality will solely be determined by your perception? “But isn’t this obvious?” you say.

Sadly no. Perception is not just simple memories which forms opinions and beliefs, no, it goes far back to the moment you gain understanding. When you were an infant to be exact. You are instructed on what to believe and what not to believe, what is right and what is wrong…about god and government and the role they play in our lives and let’s not forget society. What is socially acceptable and what is not.

Not so long ago people where taught that homosexuality was a “sin” and you would “burn in the fires of Hell” if you chose to love a person of the same sex. Sadly, there are those individuals who still adhere to these threats and live a life of pure depression because it is “wrong” to love without remorse, limits or conditions. YOUR perception will determine the course of your life, nothing else.

Let us tell you something: There is no right or wrong, good or evil, as all things are determined through individual belief which is crafted by perception and not tradition. Remember this and remember it well. If you want to be straight, bi-sexual, lesbian, gay, transgender etc then be so to the best of your ability, and be true to thine own self! Betray the world if you must, but NEVER betray yourself, as this is a self-inflicted sentence you will serve for all eternity. There is no reprieve or appeal from self-betrayal. When we question all that we believe to be true, right and just, and come to the conclusion that it is not so; then what remains? Perception remains…perhaps a clean slate for some or a nervous breakdown for others, but one thing is certain…something’s got to give. Perhaps after this self-discovery you will formulate a long-lasting relationship with Gin or Novocaine, while others will gently start questioning everything like a true Socratarian, and then one day become wise.

“Yeah, all good and well but what does this have to do with the Occult and Magick?” Read this post again, and then you answer that question, while looking in a mirror….

“To thine own self be true.” — William Shakespeare, Hamlet
