Throughout history, practitioners of magick and religion have approached Deities, Spirits, and other spiritual intelligences with offerings, prayers, incantations, and petitions. Sometimes these approaches were part of elaborate ceremonies, while at other times they were remarkably straightforward: an offering was prepared, a Power was addressed, and a request was made.

After all, not every interaction with a spiritual intelligence requires an elaborate evocation, an extensive ceremony, or the establishment of a long-term working relationship.

The Petition to the Powers is one of our Arcane Essentials services, offering a more accessible means of placing a specific request before an appropriate Deity, Spirit, or planetary intelligence.

Unlike our more extensive evocation services, this operation does not involve the full ceremonial calling forth of an intelligence, prolonged two-way communication, or the negotiation of an agreement. Instead, it consists of a formal, carefully prepared petition, supported by suitable offerings and ritual observances.

The purpose is quite simple: to respectfully approach an appropriate spiritual Power, present a clearly defined request, and seek its assistance or favourable influence.

This service is suited to a variety of purposes, particularly those traditionally associated with the virtues, attributes, and spheres of influence of particular Deities and spiritual intelligences.

Some examples include:

• Prosperity and Financial Matters: Petitioning an appropriate Power for favourable financial circumstances, opportunities, stability, or assistance with material concerns.

• Protection and Security: Seeking the guardianship, protection, or defensive influence of an intelligence traditionally associated with such matters.

• Wisdom and Guidance: Requesting assistance with clarity, understanding, discernment, learning, or an important decision.

• Success and Achievement: Seeking favourable influence over a particular undertaking, ambition, project, or professional matter.

• Strength and Courage: Petitioning for fortitude, resolve, confidence, personal authority, or the ability to persevere through difficult circumstances.

Each petition is directed towards one clearly defined purpose. This is particularly important, as the purpose is not to present a spiritual intelligence with an extensive list of unrelated demands, but rather to approach it with a focused and appropriate request.

Which Deity, Spirit, or Intelligence Will Be Petitioned?

This will depend primarily upon the nature of your request and any personal preferences you may have. If you know who you want us to petition, then we will petition that intelligence. If you do not know, then we can choose one on your behalf that would be best suited.

It should also be understood that the selection of a particular intelligence does not turn this service into a full evocation.

Once we have received your request, we will determine the most suitable Power to approach (if needed) and prepare a focused ritual petition.

The precise structure will depend upon the spiritual intelligence and tradition involved, but the operation will generally include the preparation of an appropriate ritual setting, the selection of suitable offerings, and the formulation of a petition that clearly expresses the purpose of the working.

Depending upon the intelligence being approached, offerings may consist of incense, candles, libations, grains, or other materials traditionally associated with that Power.

The ritual itself will typically involve an appropriate invocation or formal address, acknowledgment of the Power's traditional virtues and authority, the presentation of offerings, and the recitation of the petition.

Where suitable, traditional epithets, names of power, hymnic elements, or other ritual formulae may also be incorporated.

The petition is then formally concluded, with the offerings presented and the operation brought to a respectful close.

There is an important distinction here: this is a petition, not a command.

Although some magickal traditions employ methods of compelling, binding, or directing spiritual intelligences, this particular service takes a more supplicatory approach. The Power is approached according to its nature and attributes, offerings are made, and assistance is requested. It is therefore not our purpose to compel the intelligence, demand its obedience, or establish a binding agreement through this service.

The working is performed remotely, and you are not required to participate or make any special preparations unless specifically advised otherwise.

The Petition to the Powers is deliberately a smaller and more straightforward magickal operation. It is not a replacement for our full ceremonial evocation services, which involves considerably more preparation, elaborate ritual procedures, direct spirit communication, or the establishment of particular agreements.

This service does not include:

• Full ceremonial evocation or manifestation procedures.

• Extended communication or consultation with the intelligence.

It is also important to understand that presenting a petition does not guarantee that the spiritual intelligence will grant it, nor can we promise a particular outcome or timeframe.

We undertake to prepare and perform the petition with the appropriate care, experience, and ritual consideration. The service is the operation itself, rather than a guarantee of results or of the Power's response.
